What colour is your mood?

Of course, all of us know the significance of colours in our artworks, don't we!

Now, I am not speaking for those who are committed to their greys like graphites and charcoals. Well, they are wonderful. However, this is for the ones like me who can just not see their artwork complete with a hint colour in it.

Colours signify mood. Well, let me put in this way.

Try recalling your happy moments, your euphoric substance. Now, if you want to trace your cheerful thoughts into a paper or a canvas or let us say any

surface that could be scribbled upon. What colours would you pick?

You are most likely to draw your hand towards the vibrant hues like - Yellow, Orange, Pink, Teal, Purple, Fluorescent colours may be. Have you ever wondered, why is that so?

Well, that is because colours in our palette mean so much more than we actually think so. Vivid colours represent a harmonious space upon one glance. Therefore try using bright colours in your paintings the next time you want to make it really pop up to yourself as well your viewers.

Having discussed that, why not talk about the other side of the palette that is on the gloomier side. Just like vibrant colours speak about happiness and joy, neutral colours and dark colours that are predominant in a painting tend to signify something of a serious genre. Artists depicting social or political issues usually use a lot of neutrals like - Brown, Grey, Muddy green, Dull blue and all the colours that are just toned down and not very bright.

Hence, the next time you want to make an artwork wherein you want to draw the attention to a specific issue or a mindset (positive or negative) , try including a lot of neutrals.

I am sure you are going to see your colours differently now. You can see how the vibrant tones did wonders to the painting attached in the blog here. She is known as "The Contagious Aura".
